Community ChestParticipatory Budget Scheme
The Parish Council’s Participatory Budget Scheme, now renamed the ‘Community Chest’ Fund was started in 2016. The Parish Council were keen to ensure that Parish Council funding was being spent where the people of the Parish really wanted it to be spent. We were also really keen to assist the numerous groups and organisations doing amazing work across the Parish.
The Community Chest fund works by offering groups and organisations based within our three villages the opportunity to apply for funding. These applications are then presented at a Public Meeting in each of three villages, before the public are given the opportunity too vote for their favoured projects. Over the past two year, The Friends of Cross Roads Park, Cross Roads Village Association and Cross Roads Brownies have all received funding, in Haworth, Haworth Village Hall, Haworth Primary School, the Worth Valley Fire Cadets, Friends of Haworth Central Park, the 1960’s Weekend and Haworth Cricket Club have all benefited from this fund. In Stanbury, a Public Meeting agreed that the village would like to see the continuation of the ‘lengthsman service’, which the Parish Council currently funds for the Stanbury.
